Motivation to stay fit.

My pastor Tom Hugill of the Family Worship Center, Bealeton, Virginia, delivered an awesome message of committing to “live” the Christian life not only a quick convenient decision  to follow in “fair season”.  I agree and learned how this carries over to many areas of live.

In the fitness area deciding to get in shape and committing to get in shape follows the same principle. The initial motivation to get in shape may be to wear a particular dress or a swimsuit at the beach. But the commitment to get in shape is necessary. The no turning back commitment, hints lifestyle.

I suggest to examine your initial “why”. Finding your initial why will help you make the commitment instead of the quick decision to do it.

Your Why is your motivation.

Motivation is a like a Nitrous oxide boost to an engine, it would provide a tremendous burst of energy to get you started but it is not long sustaining. Eventually the gas burns itself out leaving you with only the regular fuel in the tank.

Committing and continuing to go in the direction that you know will work will benefit your health with many unseen blessings.

Family is tremendous blessing that comes from being in shape, but NOT only being in shape, but allowing The Holy Spirit show you where the Strongholds are in your life. Whether it’s food, alcohol, drugs or what have you.  The point is the few Strongholds we have the more abundant life we will enjoy.

Thank God for His wonderful mercy!

Friends Encourage one another.

Gold’s gym located in Culpeper, VA is a very spacious gym especially with the new addition just recently opened.

I would like to introduce my new friend Alex, who is a personal trainer at Gold’s Gym Culpeper. This young man is a big encouragement to me and, obviously a knowledgeable trainer of building muscle displaying his whopping 17 inch guns hanging from his barn door wide shoulders.

Our conversation was very refreshing this morning as Alex & I swapped fitness ideas, however my favorite “take-away” was the point of how Alex stresses to his clients(& this old fitness nut) how important of the quality of our food intake dictates ANY workout routine.

“You can’t put rotten gas into a old classic sports car and get the top performance.”

If anyone is looking for a personal trainer, stop in Gold’s Gym Culpeper and ask for Alex.

Water!!! It’s a necessity.

The human body is a quite remarkable machine of flesh and bone however it still has limitations.

Human Body can go 32 days without sleep (Everson et al. 1989), but how long without water. Please read the statement from Randall K. Packer, a professor of biology at George Washington University regard this question:

It is impossible to give an answer to this seemingly simple question because many variable factors determine a person’s survival time. Under the most extreme conditions, death can come rather quickly. For example, a child left in a hot car or an athlete exercising hard in hot weather can dehydrate, overheat and die in a period of a few hours. An adult in comfortable surroundings, in contrast, can survive for a week or more with no, or very limited, water intake.

Every man’s battle!!

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.” Galatians 5:17 ESV
clark-vs-superman

I enjoyed Superman movies tremendously as a boy. Daydream of Standing tall & strong, beating the bad guy and getting to rescue the girl, I was all in!!!!

However what if the bad guy is in yourself?  Super-strength, speed or any other abilities help us to battle with ourselves? As we seen in the photo of Good & bad of superman battling it out, how can we constantly hold captive Every thought???

This is a Job for a Superman!!!  Christ Jesus!

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 ESV

Drop Weight Daddy goes for the Gold!!

2016-12-5 Golds Gym.jpg

Located inside of the small town of Culpeper, VA., lies one of the most promising Gold’s Gyms that this hillbilly health-nut has had the privilege to visit.  Driving my 2002 Dodge Neon into the Southgate Shopping Center, I found the parking lot somewhat spaciously fill for the 10 a.m. crowd of parents dropping their kids of at school.

Seeing the Typical large yellow “Gold’s Gym” sign of the front o the gym, upon approaching the door, mental preparation for a stereo-type “snatch and grab” sale pitch to sign a binding contact, shot thru mind brain. However this backwoods country boy stood ashamed of having that very thought after the reception I got at the front desk.

Amanda, the front desk attendee was nothing be friendly, while even on the phone, she is still acknowledged my presents there. Just ask any gym goer how much that matters today!

Amanda handled my appointment with up most profession, while introducing me to the Manager Allison & District Manager Chris who was kind enough give me personal guided tour of the faculty.

Allison & Chris both were very courtesy and informative, even when I questioned the obvious marked off even that was under construct. “We are expanding many new things!” This country was very impressed with the current gym amenities so am looking forward to see what is ahead at this location.  My workout was more pleasant than usual. I recommend this gym in the highest, not only for the state-of-the-art amenities but the customer service.

Being asked about Saggy Skin!!

saggy

While enjoying a workout at the local gym, I am approached by a gentleman that has recognized me from my book and my success story. After we swapped pleasantries he felt the need to share his fitness goals and asked my  opinion on common tips to obtain them.

Well anyone who knows me well knows that, he received an ear full that day. Sometimes I’m told that I get my cardio in thru my mouth…hee hee.

“May I ask a personal question?” Being my quick wit self, responded “You just did, but you may another.” After a brief chuckle, his countenance changed as he spoke, taking subtle breath and asked.

“Do you have to deal with saggy skin?”

Noticing that this is a big fear of his, so I responded calmly,

“Yes, to a certain degree. However the sagginess can be minimized because the Good Lord has made our bodies incredibly resilient. So if we slowly reach our goal, then our body has time to work it God given elasticity by using proper nutrition, consistent exercise and  of course plenty of water. That is it!”

The deer-caught-in-highlight on his face he asked “No special products shakes or pills?” I quickly responded “only if your doctor tell you to.”

Psalm 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Steward ship.

God has promised a new glorious body to EVERY saved individual that accepted Christ Jesus as their Savior Philippians 3 :20.new-body

Hmmm this bring up a thought to dwell on a moment.

If I get a new body in Heaven, so.. should I be a good steward of the body I have this side of Heaven? After all it’s only temporary, right? God wants me to be happy, and enjoy life with abundance, right?

So Let’s Praise God and pass the pastries?

Let’s look what our Heavenly Father’s word has to say.

Proverbs 23: 1 “Whenever you sit down to dine with a ruler,

carefully think about what is before you. 2 Put a knife to your own throat,

if you have a big appetite.”

Proverbs 23:20-21 “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.”

Self-control Spirit fruit that God wants all believers to have. (Galatians 5:22).
